A Decentraland World you can plant in

A garden that remembers
everyone who visited

Trellis is a walled allotment garden built by the people who pass through it. Arrive, choose a plant, aim at open ground, tap. It stays, with your name on it.

How it works

Three steps, one a day

There is no build mode and no menu to learn. You walk in, you leave one thing, and the garden is a little more full than you found it.

Arrive in a garden already full

You spawn by the potting shed, inside the walls. Every room you walk into has things in it that other people placed.

Plant one thing a day

Open the wheel, pick a prop, aim at open ground and tap. One placement per person per day, so the garden fills at the pace of visits.

Placements are permanent and attributed. Tap any plant, stone or bench in the garden and see who put it there.

The wheel

Thirteen things to plant

Open the wheel, turn it to a prop, and it appears where you are aiming. Nothing is rare and nothing costs anything. The choice is about what the plot needs.

Tree

Tall. Casts a shadow over the plot.

Bush

Round and dense. Good along a hedge.

Leafy plant

Broad leaves, low to the ground.

Red shrub

The one splash of colour on the wheel.

Grass

A tuft. Fills a gap without blocking a view.

Boulder

Big enough to sit on.

Rock

Smaller. Marks a corner or an edge.

Toadstool

Small, and easy to miss until you look down.

Log

Fallen timber. Lies where you point it.

Bench

Somewhere for the next visitor to stop.

Statue

The one figure on the wheel.

Standing stone

Also what the stone circle is built from.

Fence

A short run of timber. Line them up to make a border.

Blueprints

Some things are too big for one person

A blueprint is a structure with slots. Each slot takes one daily placement, so it only gets built if people come back over several days. That is the whole social mechanic.

Eight slots

The stone circle on the upper terrace has eight places for a standing stone. Each one is a single placement.

One slot per visit

Spending your daily plant on a slot adds a stone to the circle instead of a plant to the ground.

Finished only together

Eight slots and one placement a day means the circle needs at least eight visits. Alone, that is eight days.

Signed stone by stone

Every stone in the circle is attributed like any other placement. Tap one and see who set it.

A reason to bring someone

You cannot finish it by yourself. The fastest way to close the circle is to bring another person back with you.

Four of eight built

At launch four slots hold our founding stones and four show a gold stake with a glowing disc. The sign says so. The circle is a demonstration of the mechanic, not a finished ornament.

What is in the garden today

320 seeds and 4 founding stones, 324 placements in all, placed by us and attributed to "Founding garden".

We started the garden so it would not be empty on day one. We are saying so here, in full, because a garden that claims a community it does not have is just another empty World.

320 seeds

Trees, bushes, grass, rocks and the rest, spread across the rooms so nobody arrives to bare ground. None of them are in the circle.

4 founding stones

The first four contributions to the stone circle. Four of its eight slots are built and four show a stake, so the blueprint arrives half done and asks for a fifth.

All 324 say "Founding garden"

Tap any of them and that is the name you get. None of them are attributed to a visitor, because none were planted by one.

Everything else is a person

Anything in the garden that is not attributed to "Founding garden" was placed by someone who visited after launch.

The grounds

A walled garden on three levels

Small enough to walk in a few minutes, divided enough that every placement lands somewhere particular.

Three levels

The garden steps up from the entrance to an upper terrace, where the stone circle stands.

Rooms divided by hedges

Deep green hedges split the ground into rooms, so a full room and an empty one are both easy to see.

A potting shed by the entrance

The first thing you see on arrival. It marks the spawn and gives the garden a front door.

Allotment plots, one left bare

Beds of soil for planting in. One is deliberately dug and empty, so there is always somewhere obvious to start.

FAQ

Straight answers

Everything here is true at launch and written to stay true. If a question is not answered, the garden itself is the quickest way to find out.

Come and plant something.
It will still be there.
